Also known as a photo facial, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy improves skin texture and color without surgery. It can reverse some of the damage from sun exposure, and help correct red, brown, or splotchy skin. This treatment uses light energy to target a certain pigment in the skin, and treats a range of conditions simultaneously.
Is IPL Painful?
Patients compare IPL treatment to the feeling of being snapped with a rubber band. Before the procedure, the treatment area is cleansed, and a cool gel is applied to the skin. We will give you eye shields to protect your eyes. The doctor uses an IPL device to deliver light pulses to your skin. The procedure typically takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. For optimal results, you may need a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced approximately one month apart to allow your skin to heal.
